Doing a deep dive into their discography after not listening to them for years. Really surprised that I find this the best album, since I found it kind of slight at the time and missed Patrick Matthews' complex basslines. But this album cuts out all the crap that slunk into the songwriting.

this was when craig became a shell of his former song writing self, but jesus spaceship still deserves any and all praise it gets

Just look at the wonderful mixed bag quality, such a beautiful heartwrenching song as Spaceship, with Dope Train a fabulous bang of rhythmic guitar that sounds similar to John Lennon's technique on 'I'm Happy Just To Dance With You'. And Candy Daze, so 60s inspired and sweet.

I remember Q magazine were the only people to give this album a deserved good review. The rest of the reviews were just really bitchy comments at Craig Nicholls' expense. I don't know if Melodia's good but there were bitchy reviews for that as well.
