People who didn't like this album have no brain cells - I admit after hearing the first four it was a leap (not sure why now?). But their talent and songwriting here is as strong as ever, creativity still high. This feels like their most cohesive album as well, and it's the perfect transition into their eventual style.

people boycotting and protesting against this album is the funniest thing to me because HAVE YOU GUYS EVEN LISTENED TO THE ALBUM. THAT IS LITERALLY WHAT THE ALBUM IS ABOUT. Honestly? My trans emotional attachment to this album gets to me every time and this one was an intimidating, confronting and comforting listen!

listening to everything they've released in chronological order, and i get what they're doing here with the full group... but the conventional rock band arrangement is nowhere near as sonically interesting as the loops, samples, found sounds, tape experimentation, etc used before this time. to me, this album is actually kind of a chore to get through, which is completely unlike the previous four albums.

remember the tour for this - started with just the two on stage like so many previous shows (had already seen them many times) until, in the midst of "Istanbul (Not Constantinople)" (maybe second or third song) and the line "people just liked it better that waaaaaaaaaaaaaaaay" with the "aaaaaaaaaay" held forever (with strobe lights) - until the (up until now not obvious) masking curtain dropped to reveal the rest of the band waiting to kick in to a full band rendition. Great show, great album. Loved them as a duo, loved them as a band. Fuck small minded-people!

SO underrated. Diverse songwriting, and some of their best songs ever imho (End of the Tour, A Self Called Nowhere)

Fans who were upset when this album came out remind me of the people who got pissed when Dylan went electric. Full band or just the two Johns, all that matters to me is the brilliant songwriting.

Man I remember in the day when so many TMBG fans were totally hating on this album as it was/is pretty much just about the final nail in the coffin of TMBG: the duo of John & John and the birth of TMBG: the band that consists of more than just The Two Johns. Enh.. let's face it, some people do not deal well with change and a lot of people hated the fact that John Henry pretty much meant for the most part it would never just be Linnell, Flansburgh, and a tape recording of beats on stage again but a full actual band. Anyway, I'm glad this album is getting a better rep these days. Interestingly enough though I've kind of heard the Johns aren't too fond of this album either. Pity..

This album is pretty damn awesome. I'm a bit dissapointed that Destination Moon is only average in popularity here.
