Biography

There are at least four acts named Think Tank:

1. Japanese hip-hop crew from IKEBUKURO in Tokyo.

2. The fresh collaborative between Llamabeats & Parable, collectively known as THINK TANK, is more than just . In fact, they’re sound parallels the likes of Sublime and Incubus as much as it does The Roots and A Tribe Called Quest, with hints of everything in between. Comprised of Miami’s best-kept secret Llamabeats (the musical trio of producer The What’s Good?, guitarist Master Fader, and vocalist Spits) and one of South Florida’s highest respected MCs, the vicious yet expressive Parable, THINK TANK introduces a unique dynamic of genre-bending music. The group aims at merging brighter, appealing sounds with substantial, deep-rooted content and wordplay, topped with captivating choruses and melodies.

Since their formation in early 2009, they’ve found time to work together amidst their complex schedules. As Llamabeats maintained work at one of South Florida’s most respected studios, working on projects for artists such as Damian Marley, Nas, Charles Hamilton, and Lil Jon, Parable toured nationally, having spent over 42 weeks on the road in the last year, performing in venues of all sizes throughout New York, Minneapolis, Chicago, and Los Angeles, just to name a few. THINK TANK still finds time to collaborate in the studio and perform locally.

It was this vigorous work that caught the attention of The Vans Warped Tour. Now, Llamabeats& Parable are proud to announce their participation in the southern leg of the tour, performing on the Bring It Back/Grind Time Now Hip-Hop Stage, a feat not many acts can bolster. Although their Vans Warped Tour appearance isn’t until the weekend of July 23rd, the crew has crafted a preemptive mini-tour, including stops at Lounge Battles Festival in Orlando, and medium-sized venues along the east coast in cities such as New York and Jacksonville. THINK TANK is also gearing up for the mid-Summer debut of the music video to “Gun In My Hand,” the first single off their upcoming mixtape, scheduled for Fall 2010 release. They current have released Bad Guys Finish First on SoFlo Entertainment.

3. Think Tank is the one-man industrial band project of Paul Robb, founding member of Information Society and the Hakatak International Record Label. Robb is also known for his work in films (such as South Park creators Trey Parker and Matt Stone's Orgazmo) and commercials, having won two Clio Awards for BMW ads. In addition to Think Tank, Hakatak featured the trip-hop and world-music flavored collaboration Brother Sun Sister Moon with Minneapolis singer Barbara Cohen. Brother Sun Sister Moon also released an album uner the name Luminous on Robb's Bleep! Records during a time when Hakatak had been temporarily dissolved. Robb has recently reformed Information Society with James Cassidy and new vocalist Chris Anton on the resurrected Hakatak label.

4. Think Tank was a very short-lived progressive rock band from The Netherlands (1971-1972). A bit of a 'supergroup' of sorts, Think Tank was fronted by singer/bassist Jacques Zwart (of HET fame). Known for their close harmony singing, the band recorded one eponymous studio album, but by the time of its 1972 release the band had folded.
