What an album! I'd had Thomas Dolby in the "one hit wonder" category, albeit a cool one. I was forced to revisit that assessment upon finally listening to the whole album. Because every song is a gem and there's a lot of variety and very strong and memorable songwriting here. Surprisingly so. Songs like the soaring "flying north" and the poignant "Europa and the pirate twins" are great examples of that in, addition to of course the indelible "she blinded me with science". But all the songs are excellent.

Up until the time I left for college, every other month me and my dad would have a "guys night out." We would always follow the same routine of going to McDonald's for dinner, walking around the mall and ending our night at the airport in my town. We would always listen to this album in the car. I'm listening to this album in the solitude of my dorm room right now, thinking of my dad. I love you, dad. Thanks for the great memories.

Perfect album! Many interesting synth tones and melodies. "Airwaves" is a beautiful and melancholic ballad, "She blinded me with science" is fun sci-fi synthpop, "Weightless" is mysterious. "Commercial Breakup" is like synth-rock... such a fine album. The original CD from the 80's has a great sound.

A wonderful classic album! The entire album is playable from start to finish! There is NOT one bad song on this album - not one! If you are just getting into Thomas Dolby then I would highly recommend starting with this album. <3

They did indeed use different versions on some releases (US/UK) - Thomas has just remastered a deluxe edition which should be out soon and will fill the gaps and more (thanks TD!) - In the meantime, this will do nicely - a great, great album :)

I really neglect this album too often. It is a piece of synthpop perfection. Brilliant songs.

I am not so keen on the CD version, I prefer the vinyl. It seems they remixed or used different takes of some of the tracks, i.e. Radio Silence as a good example. This motivated me to start digitizing my vinyl albums.

Took me too long to replace my Golden Age of Wireless on vinyl with CD. Cracking album
