Biography
Thomas Kivi (born in 1985) is a Minneapolis based singer/songwriter. He grew up in Hudson, Wisconsin and attended the University of Wisconsin–Madison from 2004-2008. Disenchanted with academia while frustrated with the current state of music, he discovered a singing voice and began to write songs during the winter of his senior year–songs that communicate.
He released his debut album "Crying Child" in February 2011. It was a 10-song album of heartfelt americana, a clear voice over the insistent strum and finger-picking of roots rock that's been compared to Wilco, The Avett Brothers and The Mountain Goats. He also has an EP titled "Thomas Kivi & The Immigrants," a 5-song album with his 4-piece band.
