I have listened to D.o.A. and now this. This album often veers too much into synthpop territory, replete with regularity of beats, and also conventional vocals. I'd rather have a little noise and chaos.

In a way. Definitely in the sense that cover seems pretty warm and welcoming, only to have the music completely flip that around. However, that cover is actually a picture of Throbbing Gristle on the cliffs of Beachy Head - a headland in East Sussex, England, notorious for being a popular site for people to commit suicide from. There is also a song in the album titled "Beachy Head," which embodies the eerie and dark atmosphere of that same headland. With this knowledge, it shows the cover in a new angle. I find that the contrast between the inviting cover and the creepy music actually adds to the head-twisting experience.

The idea was to look like something you'd find in a woolworths bargin bin so that an unsuspecting purchaser would pick it up thinking it was Jazz/Funk only to take it home, play it and be decimated by what they heard. Epic level of trolling from a band in the late 70's early 80's hehehe

Great record by all means, but I do find it to be an overrated endeavor. The Second Annual Report and D.O.A. are far superior in my eyes.

I definitely disagree about it being their best album, but I do think it's an undeniable classic in its own right. The brutal rampage of Second Annual Report and the terrifying, gut-churning ambient evil of DOA are superior works of art, to me, than this collection of admittedly really interesting and provocative songs.

I LOVE THIS ALBUM!!! So much!! For me, it's their best album. It's excellent. I started off with this album (because of the funny album cover), and i love it and i also like their other stuff. oh, and the person that asked if there were girls that liked this album... I am a girl and i love it. This is one of my new favorite albums.

@ Nancykitten> Noone said it was jazz, not that we should care about what genre it is.

Though it's their most popular, it's not a great place to start if you want to get into TG. This is unlike any of their other works. Wacky.
