Biography

Half Spanish and born into an eccentric, bohemian musician family, Tigs grew up in the sleepy country town of Woodchester.

Inspired by the New York punk of Patti Smith and Television and the tortured poetry of Steven Jesse Bernstein, Tigs dropped out of college and started writing her poetry, and then songs. Her first single, 'And Again,' ws released on her own red-ROAR label in 2005 and was limited to 500 copies on one-sided vinyl. Produced by Dimitri Tikovoi (The Ravonettes, The Horrors) & Flood (The Killers, PJ Harvey, U2), the single received rave reviews from the underground press and John Kennedy & Steve Lamacq played it having found it in Rough Trade, who went on to describe 'And Again' as "a smooth and catchy 3 minute ride through 'eat to the beat' era Blondie mixed with the energy of X and a guitar lick straight from The Primitives. It's limited and shows she has a massive future ahead of her.." Her second single, 'Something New,' came out in 2006.

Tigs currently performs in Chew Lips which has seen her move away from the rowdy punk sound, choosing instead to lose herself in waves of down-tempo electronica.
