Biography

1. Tobogan was a German experimental/krautrock band that released two albums in the late70s - early 80s.
Members: Frank Hopmann (guitar, vocals), Dieter Berndt (drums), Rainer Brune (piano, organ, Moog), Werner Rödiger (bass, vocals). Albums: Tobogan (1977), Kino (1981).
The famous krautrock encyclopedia The Crack in the Cosmic Egg describes them as follows: "A progressive cum polit-rock group, a mixture of styles ranging from techno to humorous Bonzo Dog style. The German vocals lend a feeling of Lokomotive Kreuzberg, but their song style and arrangements are generally quite straight and unadventurous. Much more suited to German ears than mine!".

2. Tobogan was built in Zagreb, Croatia in 2007, with an idea to play electronic dance music live on instruments. It was initially started by drummer Janko Novoselic, who was at the time using only drums, sampler and a laptop. In one year, Tobogan grew into a 6-piece band, which now consists of two guitarists, bassist, synthersizer player, drummer and a sound engineer. Tobogan is a musical adventure based on dance music and urban culture, ranging from drum'n'bass, house, jungle, breakbeat, dub, all the way to post-rock, jazz, electronica, techno and hip-hop.
Tobogan line-up:
Janko Novoselic- drums
Konrad Lovrencic- bass
Ognjen Zecevic - synthesizers, midi, efx
Valent Samardzija- guitar
Hrvoje Niksic- modular synthesizers, keyboards, tape-delay
Damir Babojelic- sound engineer, live fx processing
Tobogan live shows are almost completely improvised, which makes them an unique experience each and every time!
