Biography

Anthony Jackson, born in Dingle, Liverpool 16th July 1938, died 18th August 2003 from heart and diabetic problems, brought on by alcoholism.

Joined 'The Searchers ' early 1960s, and was lead singer on two hits, 'Sweets for my Sweet' and 'Sugar and Spice'. Nicknamed Black Jack . Fell out with the group and left in 1964. Formed other groups, including The Vibrations, but his musicak career slowly foundered. Tried various other jobs, and tried musical comebacks, but was un successful. Had cosmetic surgery on his nose soon after leaving the Searchers, but always had a phobia about his looks, which tended to make him unsociable.
