I am always a bit... ambivalent about TOY. On the one hand, I absolutely love their clearly great sense for creating a beautifully trippy, dreamy and airy atmosphere (e.g., Clouds that Cover the Sun, Mistake a Stranger) and/or writing brilliantly energetic jams that can be catchy as hell (e.g., Dream Orchestrator and the better part of their first two records). On top of that, some of their songwriting is absolutely fucking beautiful (e.g. Walk op To Me, You Make Me Forget Myself). But on the other hand, every now and then when I listen to their stuff, I cannot escape the feeling that a lot of their melodies and hooks are okay, but not particularly interesting and rather forgettable at moments. I guess that I have to be in a specific mood for this band.

With you on this on here. It's a quite specific mood, and it usually (therefore) does not last very long. I never manage to listen to one whole album on end. There'll be too many songs that can't seem to hold me in that specific place. Forgettable stuff, as you write. I therefore always find myself coming back to a pack of favorites and these are mostly the trippy, dreamy and airy efforts. Tom's voice fits that package very well, even though I don't find him a particularly great singer. Lyrically I don't find him very interesting, it could be that this adds to my lack of interest at times as well.

I AM FLABBERGASTED. Sorry rock band TOY fans, not related, in reference to electronic duo Toy: I just found out they put out a release through Smalltown Supersound in 2015 (2015?!) that apparently no one in the world knows about??? Album is called '40* 44* 34*'. I've just bought the CD from some Norwegian store, and it's also available on iTunes. Insane how I didn't know about this and I think I'm the only person outside of Norway who possibly gives a shit about this artist. Crazy.

It's on streaming services now. It's also a really damn nice album. I love this little electronic band virtually no one else seems to care much about. Also while I'm talking to myself, those full GPS co-ordinates - 40°44'34.089"N 73°50'43.842"W - are besides the New York State Pavilion, the remnants of a 1964 World's Fair pavilion, more likely the inspiration presumably 🎡

I do, and you can't come visit, for now, but you'll probably end up here after you die. Toy did come visit, though. They were terribly disappointing on stage. I'm just glad they're good enough on record.

How can I split the album page of: 'TOY' by Toy from Norway and 'TOY' by Toy from UK? It's confusing and both albums sounds interesting.

Listening to "Join the Dots" for the first time and I think I actually prefer it to their debut album. But, you know, it's still the first time, things may change. Anyway, I'm excited to be seeing them live in a month from now!
