Trenton Lundy, aka Mr. ChopChop, is a DIY musician from Ohio. He a multi-instrumentalist. He writes, records, composes, arranges, edits, mixes, masters, produces and performs his own original funky music.
Trent was born in the small town of Piqua. Some of his earliest memories are watching his grandmother play the piano. She was the senior choir director at their church, and Trent would spend hours at the piano trying to imitate what she had played. This is how he learned to play notes by ear. He sang in the church choir for seven years until age twelve.
In high school he played drums in the marching band, then in 2003 he began learning guitar, bass, and keyboards. He used his musical skills in two worship bands at his church until 2015. In 2016, he was blessed with his own studio equipment, and he finally was able to devote more time to his own music. His mother, Vivienne, was a huge inspiration to him throughout his childhood. She continues to support his love for music and influence his creativity. Trent credits her daily encouragement and motivation for helping him make his dream a reality.
Growing up in the 70’s and 80’s, Trent was influenced by the music of Prince, Roger Troutman and Zapp, Bootsy Collins, the Ohio Players, Sheila E, and Larry Graham. He was interested in Funk, Jazz, Rock, Gospel, and Classical styles. Today he’s inspired by talented musicians like Nik West, Ida Neilson, Freekbass, Victor Wooten, Cory Wong, Vulfpeck and Dumpstaphunk.
Besides being recognized for his funky original sound, Trent is known for his positive outlook on life and for making people smile with his jokes and motivational quotes. He likes healthy food, meeting new people, surprises, and his alone time to focus on his music. Trent’s ultimate goal is to be able to create and perform his music full time. He gets gratification by sharing his joy of music and positive messages with others. Music is not only his passion, but his purpose.
