For a long while, pinetree stopped composing for their original albums, Jinya from Carbonic Acid compose for the originals, that's why they sound so different. Good news is that pinetree with Kouta from Thousand Eyes formed DEVIL WITHIN, that is real UNCO playing original songs

"Good news is that pinetree with Kouta from Thousand Eyes formed DEVIL WITHIN" oh worm? I'll try this since I still enjoy thousand eyes a bit, thanks.

Can We just stop comparing it ? Of course it's sound different since their original works is based an actual recording session in studio, also with label. Of course their original music is to attend more people. But yeah you all touhou fans who actually made them feel discomfort. I remember seeing in their official facebook page they are posting about this . Complaining they should only do a "touhou" stuff .And, Sorry , Through Your Optic is their best song.

Nice. I don't really have any individual rankings, but best for me would probably be End Of My Pain and worst is definitely Datura, that one is just... ugh. The bonus tracks are all pretty good as well, but they can't really be compared to the rest of the album since they don't sound anything like it.

As for Flashback, I ordered from a european seller who knows Pinetree. Here's my track by track review: Revolution: 10/10 - Chase The Rabbit: 6/10 - Xing Noises: 10/10 - Sad Dream: 9/10 - Blow: 9,5/10 - Datura: 3/10 - The Cold Sun 8,5/10 - White Reflection: 4/10 - End Of My Pain: 10/10. Overall, I would say it gets a 7,5 to an 8 out of 10.

Oh, and if you look at the current KTM band image, Sawacy is on the far left and Spetsnaz is second from the right, I believe.

Nah, they're two different people, but they are both in KTM. Spetsnaz's typical vocals are a little higher-pitched while Sawacy (who previously went by Sawaken, not sure he changed it) is a little more mid-range. Here's Spetsnaz in KTM and here's Sawacy. For UC, Spetsnaz is only on Ichigeki I think. Sawacy has been on most of the albums since Shinsoku. They both also have other bands as well. Spetsnaz is in a death/goregrind band where he does much lower-pitched vocals, and Sawacy is in Ignis-Fatuus currently, who've only released one song so far I think. His old band Virginhate was pretty cool though, they were like melodic death/thrash (here's a song).

Yeah, Dougen definitely a better fit than Shiren. He is a very good guitarist though. Him and Kouta are doing guest guitar on the new album, and he played on most of the older albums as well. Anyway, I think Dougen's vocals are pretty good, but I'd to hear him sound like he did on the second album again, I liked his performance there the most. I prefer sawacy's vocals over his though, I think they sound more caustic and aggressive. He doesn't appear on nearly as much material as Dougen though (he's in UC, Thousand Eyes and like 3 or 4 other bands), and he hasn't been on all that many UC songs.

West Village/Dougen Koubota gets a lot of hate for his supposedly more "metalcore" approach but he has a ton of energy and presence so he can take care of a whole album by himself without getting obnoxious. Can't say the same for that Shiren guy, he just fell flat after a couple of lines.

Shiren from Unlucky Morpheus did the vocals back on the first album and Iron Pole from what I remember. I don't think he's really suited to doing lead vocals (and I think he realized that as well). He does do some backing vocals in a few Unlucky Morpheus and Yousei Teikoku songs now though, which don't sound too bad (like this one). I'd be down for some more remakes as well. Interesting that both of the ones off this new CD are from the "Rare Tracks" album (Shiren actually did vocals on this one as well I think). Maybe they're planning to redo that whole album to start off with.

Anyway, it would be great if they did remakes of more of their old Melodeath songs; the instrumentals were often great but the vocalist kinda sucked

Yeah, it's some rhythm video game (like Rock Band or Guitar Hero I guess, never really looked at it). I think people made custom tracks for the top two songs here which is why they have so many more plays. Kind of annoying if you ask me. Oh, I forgot to mention earlier that they also have another new track on the latest Toranoana compilation (here, disc 2 track 6). This one has sawacy on vocals. Nice melody and bit of solo in the sample.

Everything Will Freeze always gets a ton of plays; why is that particular song so popular?

New EP announced for C88. I didn't think they were releasing anything new, so this is neat. Two of the songs are remakes, so it's a bit of a throwback album (and only West Village doing vocals). The other two sound similar to the bonus tracks from Flash Back.

I've given it a full listen and I'd agree with adamagedone for the most part. Lots of cool stuff going on in places but also parts I'm not very keen on (the rapping vocals and hip-hop stuff going in some of the tracks, mainly). Don't really have a favourite track among the regular edition tracks yet, but I'm liking the HMV bonus song "Becoming the enemy", it's a lot heavier than any of the other songs and has no clean vocals. My favourite album overall would still be Melodic Heavy Low Roar Over the Full Moon for their metalcore style.

I like this new [Flash Back] album! I don't mind the change in style at all, as I like to see UNCO toy around with different sounds and stuff. Can't say it's my favorite album they've put out (I'd have to give that to O.D.), but it's definitely earned a spot in my regular rotation.

Just listened to the new album. Honestly, it's kind of a mixed bag... can't say it's anywhere close to bad but there's a lot of stuff that just does absolutely nothing for me, it just doesn't click. Unsurprisingly, the songs I like the most are the ones that resemble their old style the most.

Not bad. Sounds more like their older style than the recent Touhou albums, but it has some modern touches as well. I should have my copy from HMV early next week to go through the rest of it... curious to hear what the bonus disc stuff will sound like as well.
