Biography
UNLOCKEDOOR - the Moscow musical project which was founded by Grigoriy "Grin" Mikheyev and Denis "Don" Dubovik in 1998. They met at a school desk and soon began the first musical experiments, mixing electronic sound with a live guitar. In the late nineties inspired by works of Orbital, Massive Attack, Aphex Twin and of many others Grin & Don recorded their first tracks which were available to listening only in a narrow circle of friends.
In 2005 Unlockedoor invited the vocalist Leyla and started to perform like trio. Soon for the first time they received the invitation to warm up the well-known moscow post-rock band "Silence Kit".
In 2006 Unlockedoor took part in Moscow Indie Festival «AVANTFEST-2006» and at the same year they released their first official album "Low Voltage" on an indie label «2_99», having successfully presented it in IKRA club with support of such Moscow electronic musicians as Jermook and Sleepy Town Manufacture. The album "Low Voltage" deserved a lot of positive feedbacks. The sound of the "Low Voltage" has a very soft intelligent character with a hint of glitch. The acoustic guitar playing sometimes on a background, adds to music a little vitality and juiciness and finishes this picture a female vocal – a little playful, and from time to time hardly heard in general.
After the "Low Voltage" presentation Unlockedoor started to appear more often on the Moscow independent platforms, acting in the company of such musical projects, as Ambidextrous, Jermook, Dustveil, Livelectro, Sleepy Town Manufacture, Illuminated Faces, Midimode, etc. Unlockedoor also received an invitation to warm up such well known musicians like Vladislav Delay, Berg Sans Nipple and PLUXUS.
In the summer of 2009 Grin & Don released the second official album called "Private Space" on their own label "Family Jam" which was presented in Duma club. From the moment of the debut album's premiere the Unlockedoor's sound strongly mutated and moved away from concept of "inditronic". The album "Private space" constructed from the most different styles and elements of the electronic music such as breaks, drum & bass, idm & etc. The Unlockedoor's sound became more electronic, atmospheric, and completely instrumental with a lot of gentle and romantic guitars. But there’s also two tracks with vocals on the album: «True feelings» and «Ground control».
Despite sometimes quite long pauses in creativity, the Unlockedoor project never stopped the existence. Grin and Don continue the experiments with sound and vocals, attracting more new synthesizers, guitars, drum machines and accumulate a new material which will shortly be embodied into music tracks.
In 2013 Unlockedoor will return with the new concert program and a couple of fresh releases among which a joint album with the Midimode project, remixes for Orbital and, at last, the third studio album. Follow the UND on a new official site www.UNLOCKEDOOR.com .
