A very fun album for the whole family to listen to. The band really shows off their artistic chops on this one. Probably the most commercial of the first six albums, and the least edgy. A good one to play for the kids, lots of chuckles! I love it when a band shows their sense of humor and isn't ashamed to show off their lighter side. True, VH always had a sense of humor in their music, but this one is more campy than the others, and less sexist.

Very hit or miss. "Hang 'em High" is a great track and was also, at the time, an old track from their early days around the first album. I also dig the cover of "Dancing In The Street" a lot. Otherwise the songs go from OK to rather bland imo. The weakest VH with DLR for sure.

Good album but the weakest of the first six, IMO. Fair Warning was a huge leap forward for the group artistically, with increased complexity in the songwriting and arrangements, but it's like they were scared to follow through and instead they turned out a safe, mostly very poppy record as the follow-up.

with the exception of a very few tracks, i hated this album when it came out... it's held up better for me with the perspective of time though... far than i would have ever imagined it could back then.

@PartSanCTG - What? Big Bad Bill "drags it down"? That's what's so charming about this album - the variety! And Pretty Woman - bad? Tsk, tsk.

On a second listen, this album is better than I remembered. The covers of Pretty Woman (you know your song sucks when even VH can't make it kick arse) and Big Bad Bill still drag it down somewhat.

I got really surprised with this one. Their most experimental album ever. Still prefer Women And Children First and Van Halen I.
