It's become evident from my perusal of social media and my preternatural ability to intuit the general vibe of our modern ethos that we're all in a stable and curious enough state of mind post-pandemic to collectively ponder the controversies of the past couple of years. So, was Van referring to the Jews in "They Control the Media", or were the accusations of anti-Semitism merely mud-slinging from those who resented his anti-lockdown stance? Unintelligible answers only, please.

I've only listened to The Best of Van Morrison so far. Which album should I check next? Blowin' Your Mind!, Astral Weeks or Moondance?

at 76, he should just STFU. If he wants company, there are some excellent nursing home in Florida that suits his status.

I was and am still a fan of his but seriously, his voice is gone a long time's ago. locking up elderly is not what Im advocating. We must learn to get old gracefully and stop living in the past.

Can we not do this pseudo-debate thing? Let's just not. Just listen to "Brown-eyed Girl" and eat some Cheez-its.

So, Van Morrison is an undeniable talent with questionable political stances. I only care about the first part.

You either die and be a Jim Morrison, or live long enough to see yourself become a Van Morrison.

He has always been a grumpy cunt to be honest. I'll take everything from Astral Weeks to Veedon Fleece, the man himself can do one.

I'm just wondering... how did this come up? Who, in the history of mankind, has compared Jim and Van Morrison? I mean, aside from yourself, of course.

Brown Eyed Girl can join Hey Jude and Bohemian Rhapsody in my 'could do with never hearing again' club.

Three Chords And The Truth might be his best album for a while ! It's kicking in on the first listen and that's always a good thing.

If you watch Van Morrison performing the song "Caravan" during the movie "The Last Waltz" (the movie of the concert that was billed as the "farewell concert appearance" by the American group The Band), as he is leaving the stage Robbie Robertson (of The Band) can be heard calling out "Van the Man!".

"His Band and The Street Choir" летом 2013 услышал. В какие-то моменты кажется, что чуть ли не каждый может такое сделать... но это на эмоциях.

Living in Belfast I've heard some terrible stories about Van, but he'll always be an amazing talent.

I've heard he sexually assaulted a few young boys, he gets his writers to bully other writers from here, and steals their lyrics. He's elitist, and doesn't communicate with any of his producers. I don't doubt any of it tbh.

Well, he has been producing his own albums since Hard Nose the Highway from 1973 so who are the producers he doesn't communicate with? And concerning writers ... he gets his writers to bully other writers? Who are the writers? For arrangements? I mean, for sure he gets help with arrangements from his band members, but most of the times he writes his own songs.

Being a bit of an asshole, I believe, but claiming he sexually assaulted young boys and stole lyrics are serious allegations to make without having anything to back up besides "some guy told me". Let's not add to today's confusion and wait to claim things like this until there is serious evidence brought forward.

I've said they are rumours. Never claimed they were facts, but these people live near where he was born, and know his mother so take that as you will.

Meant to say record label. Look on pitchfork. I knew a guy that told me he wrote songs, and one day a guy came into his record label claiming Van Morrison wants those lyrics without giving anything in return. Also heard from people that have worked with him in Belfast he's great when he's on form live, but if he isn't he's awful, moody, and horrible, and stuck up his own arse. Again these are rumours.

Yeah, I have no doubt about his moody and sometimes difficult behavior! It is well documented. I was just curious about the other more specific rumors. But there are a lot of stories circulating around about Van, usually concerning rude behavior towards journalists or too intrusive fans.

One of those tracks you could do without ever hearing again imo. Hey Jude falls into the same category for me.
