Biography

Pete Lutwyche, Jane Tilley and Bruce Turpin were the core members of Vancouver band Perfume Tree. During the recording of "Feeler" - their last full-length album -, there were apparently some misunderstandings, as Ian MacLachlan started to get more involved into Perfume Tree's songwriting (and proved to majorily influence their music too). In the end, Perfume Tree broke up in December 1999. In January 2000, Tilley and Lutwyche have decided to revive the spirit of Perfume Tree and went on to form with MachLachlan the project called Veloce. Pretty much like late Perfume Tree recordings, Veloce developed a kind of intelligent trance-like music that would extract only Jane's vocals and some of the beats from the initial Perfume Tree style. At the end of 2000, they've released their self-titled album under their own label, Minimum Records. After several years of silence, "Headroom" was released in 2006, possibly shocking the only fans they had left with a new sound, more close to ambient music and minimal techno than to the style Perfume Tree or even the old Veloce album were known for.
