Thirsting for that "Northsuite"? Craving for that "Genevieve"? Knowing Josh listened to Blut Aus Nord, might I suggest their album, "The Mystical Beast of Rebellion"? While it might not be the most talked about Blut Aus Nord album, it came out prior to "Northsuite" & "Genevieve", and shares alot of similarity.

Half of VC is the comedic act. Don't get me wrong, 'P aa opal Poere Pr. 33' is a top 5, if not 3, album to me. The music is amazing. But the the sheer entertainment I get from Josh bullshitting black metal fans is on par with the music.

Apparently there's a hint of them reuniting or something? Their website is up and running again. Also Atropine is literally stolen songs slowed down just to fulfil a contract, fuck.

I found an old mp3 copy. I think this is legit, but very rare. Droney, dark ambient stuff from 2003, sweet as always - definitely sounds like the place they were at electronically in that era. Mentioned in two interviews. They reused the two final tracks for DSE on the Dextronaut reissue in 2006.

atropine is a hoax as well open it up in reaper and put it at 4.0 rate it sounds to be a bunch of random film sound tracks or something but i mean maybe they could of made the instruments themselves and slowed it down but who knows

It's a shame since Genevieve is so good. Found it so amusing these guys had to lie and "mock the black metal scene" when it was really because these two were into drugs.

The band are notorious for a series of lies and rumors spread by the band's primary songwriter SGL (Josh), including a supposed break-up, a reformation, making up albums and demos that never existed, acts of ecoterrorism, being committed in an insane asylum, and dramatic live performances. Josh would later admit that these various claims were falsified in an interview with an Italian fanzine. Velvet Cacoon's shoegaze/psych-folk recordings were stolen albums. The demo "How the Last Day Came and Stayed then Faded into Simulated Rain" was almost completely stolen from Korouva's Shipwrecks & Russian Roulette. (Korouva's album has ten tracks, while Velvet Cacoon's demo has nine, although two tracks that can be found on Korouva's Myspace are not on the Velvet Cacoon demo).

That's right, they're even better. Though really, I think I like 'P aa opal Poere Pr. 33' as much as the first Clair Cassis album. They're both underrated masterpieces. And you can kind of hear the evolution into Clair Cassis on that record, with the leading high pitched bass line of 'Marylux'.

Can't understand one thing - they splitted at all even as Clair Cassis? So much hopes for something new...They're so addictive (even Korouva reminds me of them :( )

So whatever happened to this band? It's been 10 years since Genevieve blew up. I was quite a hardcore fan back then, trying desperately to look up their fake releases like "dying celestial bodies". Are there any photos out there of the actual musicians that are real? Any interviews within the past few years that once and for all unravel the mystery behind this band? In any case, I still think Genevieve is an incredible album.
