I am trying to get So-Cal (and, when I get back to San Francisco, Northern Cal too & the whole West Coast) turned on to Joan of Arc - and all the related gems - Owls, Cap'n Jazz, Owen and so on...for some reason the autocratic, right-run record cartel won't let great indie stuff through the cracks cuz they're scared that they'll lose money when consumer-slobbering sheep realize that Emo sucks and isn't the least bit alternative and that there is a world of great stuff that CA is not getting hip to - except, maybe, the small group of intellectualized, educated and open-minded music lovers...If it has to be a one-man mission, so be it. I hope you'll support me in this effort. I review all yr stuff and rare shows out here and am your biggest fan on the West Coast! Hope to see you again soon! - KENT MANTHIE

I have to admit I did not believe he'd sing this much. He's obviously not the best singer in the world. But the fact that he goes along with it anyway, well, it gives me comfort. I think there's a sharp difference between singing like a goose because it's indie, and not being a natural singer but choose to sing anyway, simply because some words need to be sung. And perhaps it's a part of his "path towards redemption" for these past few years. I'm not going to speculate whether the rumours of his past are true or not, but if they are, it makes sense to seek peace. He's still one darn good musician. And I like the album very much. 8.2/10 - A great comeback. All of a sudden he's ... ALIVE!
