Wonderful discography, I remember how excited I was when they confirmed the third part of Requiem (I was a teenager in those days), but then Pianissimo never actually came out. Now that I am a grown man, here am I, still listening and reading about Virgin Black, a band that marked my early years, and finally enjoying the Requiem – Pianissimo

Fun fact: I remember me and my friend Pilar, sang Midnight’s Hymn and talked about the band for a music class, the teacher seemed curious and asked me about them to do a research, so maybe she liked the music, our classmates, on the other hand, seemed a bit restless though. This was circa 2011

Just listened to it for the first time now, I have to admit that after such a long wait I'm a bit disappointed. It's the weakest part of the trilogy.

Yeah, it's been 1 decade waiting for this album and it was finally released, but now I'm not sure about what future holds for them after reading their press release on their website...

Yes it is! It was worth the wait. Definitely on my favorite albums of this year.

And we won't ever listen to Requiem Pianissimo. The wings of hope, they are completed burned.

While they're not a strictly doom band, they definitely have their doomy moments. Red Water and Haunted are excellent examples. They just have a 'warmer' sound, if that makes sense, as opposed to a chilly atmosphere most doom bands have.

This is the only christian metal band I legitimately like. Not only because their music is great but also because unlike most christian bands they actually know the difference between spirituality and preaching. [2] Exactly my thoughts. This is only one poetic, emotionful christian band I know, and well, I'm a bit in love.

Yes they are. From a spiritual side and not so much organized religion but very much their lyrics are faith based.

Some of the songs from the Bloodborne soundtrack bring back memories from Virgin Black!

Fortissimo is fantastic and just as good as a death doom album as Mezzo forte is as a gothic/orchestral one. Perhaps because it's heavier than the previous album a lot of fans found that offputting?

I don't get why some critics and fans have shunned "Requiem: Fortissimo," but I think it is because they do not understand the meaning of the titles in this trilogy. "Mezzo Forte" means "moderately loud." "Fortissimo" means "very very loud." "Pianissimo" means very very soft, so expect it to be the softest of all the albums. As a whole, the trilogy when played in whichever order you want, offers three completely different moods. It's a brilliant idea IMO, and offers a far more unique experience than a trilogy of nearly identical albums.
