Waysted are a heavy metal band formed by UFO bassist Pete Way in 1982. The band has gone through multiple lineup changes over the years, with members leaving, rejoining and leaving again, as well as periods of complete dormancy while Way pursued other projects.
The debut album Vices was recorded by Muir, Way, Raymond, Kayfield and features former Def Leppard drummer Frank Noon. It contained material in keeping with the songs Way had written for UFO. The band could not keep a stable line-up; Muir and Way remained for 1984's mini album, 'Waysted' with a new guitarist and Andy Parker (also ex-UFO). By 1985 the band was Muir and Way with Paul Chapman (again ex-UFO). Muir left and the singer on 1986's album ('Save Your Prayers') was Danny Vaughn. This also had a glossier, more radio-friendly sound. Despite a positive reception, the band split up in 1987, but then reformed in 2003. Later reissues and reunion releases (with Muir returning) in the 2000s did not bring significant success.
In 2008, Waysted toured the UK in support of its then new album The Harsh Reality. However, the outfit has not released any new material since that time.
Way died on 14 August 2020 from injuries sustained in an accident.
