So many classics on this album: Punk Jazz, Mr. Gone, River People, Young and fine…
… but this is the famous one-star (ˆ) rated record by Down Beat at the time!
The album opens with Zawinul's composition: The Pursuit which has cool synth. sounds, medium tempo groove, African style singing - great mood! Shorter's Elders - the mood is a bit sad and dreamy…
Shorter's Pinocchio is already in Miles Davis record Nefertiti in 1967 - this is interesting to hear a new version of the old song.
