In the beginning when horses were the size of rabbits, Wevie Stonder began their quest into the unchartered depths……..

A first recording in 1979 (capturing the telephone conversations of a group of chickens), led Itchy Genius and M.C. Hat to begin the crusade. By July 1993 they were armed with an Amstrad 3 track studio 100, “Johnny Guitar” and a Casio pt82, resulting in a failed attempt to record a cover version of Stevie Wonder’s “I just called to say I love you “ and marking the birth of Wevie Stonder.

After sending Henry Music the results of that summer of ‘93 on a cassette (for the archives) he promptly joined the cause.. Several years of recording over the same cassette ensued, combined with performances such as “Carrot the Dog Opera” and an international mail art exhibition – “The History Of Dogs”. It was through these experiences that the group discovered their own true “Cack” style, and ventured onwards over the following years to produce many varied works.

In 1999 Wevie Stonder joined Skam – an event described by some as the biggest setback ever to have hit the label. The release of their 10 track e.p. “Eat Your Own Ears” followed: a compendium of styles including Cack, advanced music and dog interviews, receiving world-wide acclaim and several international trophies.

A debut gig at Sonar 2000 secured much disbelief & some new fans, more recordings for Skam followed, and a new member, Mr Vast, became a permanent feature & interactive live element.

Due to the marvels of modern technology & a relaxing of the mental health sectioning laws, Wevie Stonder now bring their show of freaks to a town near you, hoping one day to have a giant mooncrater named after them.
