They will play concerts in Europe later this year, and have mentioned the possibility of a new album on their Facebook page

Ok, Tom answered me on Facebook: "There are no immediate plans - these shows are the last with the VOL band pretty much forever - there was talk about working on some material in the archives but not everyone would be involved. And even that may not happen - these shows are the only plan for now and they are absolutely some kind of goodbye - Tom" So, NO new album in the future.

He said something different when I saw them in Rotterdam not long ago. He said there had been some confusion about whether or not WHW were breaking up and he specifically said they are NOT quitting. There will just be a huge change in the line-up. I think, but am not sure, he said only him and Jim Hunter will remain with the band. There didn't seem any tension though, they were incredibly friendly and were obviously having a lot of fun so I don't think the line-up change is because of any drama between different members of the band.

That band is so underestimate, that's a shame ! Their music is just beautiful and epic. Emotions so pure when i hear something like Living Sepulchre/Vessel or the Epilogue (well, all the Vast Oceans Lachrymose album actually ! ). Thanks for being so talented guys !

Can't even imagine skipping Introspectus. To me it's not a 4 minute wait, it is the beginning of the album :D

Tom, thanks! I do always listen to all of SAA, minus Introspectus, for the reason of impatience... However good a non-metal intro may be composition-wise, when I want to hear WHW (the most epic Epic Metal band that I know of, and I've been a Warlord and Virgin Steele fan for 20+ years) the extra 4 minute wait doesn't do. Same could be said for the start of Wintersun's Time I. Speaking personally, I'd prefer shorter interludes between songs, sort of like on VS's "House of Atreus." Can't wait for the next one--hope it's not another 3-year wait. You guys are plain awesome.

If you don't take "SAA" as a whole, you will miss the point. It's one song, not a collection of songs. The "intro" is the origin of everything that follows, there are themes and motifs that reoccur throughout the rest of the song. Thanks for listening, and no, it's not a Metal album...should be taken for what it is...that said, the next album is 95% Metal, no ballads, no acoustic songs, and being that it was channeled between "FOI" and "SAA", it is the bridge between them literally. "SAA" isn't for everyone, but for those on the fence, persevere...it takes a few listens to fully digest.

The four full-fledged songs on SAA are excellent... Instrumental is fine but when the singer who's absent is as incredible as Rain, it's just disappointing. Intro not bad, but at almost 4 minutes, I can't imagine there are more than 10% of listeners who won't start skipping it after 2 listens. So with 30 minutes of actual WHW operating on all cylinders, I'm afraid this is just an EP. :( But a good one, at least.

New album is a masterpiece, possibly album of the year. It's a massive step up from Fear of Infinity imo..

I used to hate this band because of the vocals. But I think I'm ok with them now... just listened to The Furthest Shore three times in a row doing nothing but looking at the album cover and the lyrics...
