Rare example of a band whose later material beats the absolute shit out of their early work. Good to hear them move away from generic deathcore.

What an idiot, grow up and appreciate the art they realeasing, there is room for deathcore but what they do is on another level. I am 31 now and I enjoy the shit of their new albums as I used to enjoy old albums. When I want deathcore there are many other bands doing great job like Lorna Shore, Mental Cruelty, Signs of the Swarm, Thy Art Is Murder, Fit For An Autopsy, Shepherd Worm, To The Grave and many many more but name me at least 2 bands doing what Whitechapel does playing on the edge of the deathcore and heavy metal with same quality.

I still wonder how can somebody be so dumb to support a band who just released the same shit over and over again

After seeing changes in Phil's persona over the years, I'm shocked that this band is still trying to play deathcore and makes decent music. There is no compulsion to play the same genre all your life if you feel less and less connected to the scene. Even if I don't like the new tracks as much as the previous ones, I still respect the whole work.

Spark the flame, let me burn // There's nothing left to live for // I've lost everything so spark the flame and let me burn // Take my hand one last time // I need to feel you before I die // This is our last goodbye /// Now spark the flame and let me burn

Although I don't really like their new album, I respect everything they do. I know what kind of person Phil is, I think he is a bit tired of the deathcore image of his band and is trying to do something new about their sound.

Damn, IDK why but new album doesn't turn me on... Not like Mark of the Blade or The Valley did. It's... just ok. Decent, while compared to everything in genre - pretty solid. But...

Ive JUST started listening to this band and they surprise me with such a masterpiece. Gorgeous lyrics on the new album, both melodic and harsh bits are stunning!

I don't know if that's a thing but Whitechapel really put "desert deathcore" on the map with Kin. Sure it's not as heavy as The Valley, but bearing in mind the key theme of the album lyrically, I don't mind at all.

The new album is beautiful! Deathcore tracks are very intense and progressive. Alternative rock/metal songs are so heartful!

If you are expecting good deathcore, please skip this one. I wanted so badly to love this album but I'm disappointed. The heavier songs are good but are definitely overshadowed but the softer ones. It's a decent album, maybe I'll like it if I give it a few more spins but this is definitely not a deathcore album.

Last 4 songs are pretty boring, rest is ok I think. But yeah, I absolutely agree that there are too much soft songs/parts. And don't get me wrong, I loved Hickory Creek, but these seems rather generic. Will definitely listen to it some more too and maybe those songs will grown on me.
