Discovered this band thanks to albums of the year on heavyblogisheavy and I have to say Epigone is probably my top1 album of 2022. What a masterpiece!

This band, man. Listening to both Veil of Imagination and Epigone followed the same pattern: Spin 1: "Ah, this sounds like Wilderun. Pretty huge in scope, amazing orchestration, and challenging melodies." Spins 2-4: "Are these guys allergic to repeating a riff? Why did that one melody not resolve itself how I expected? Ugh, that change is awkward, maybe I don't like this album." Spins 5-6: "Hold on a sec ..." Spins 7+: [Achieves nirvana]

couldn't have said it better. this band is next level prog metal. if Opeth didn't turn into 70s rock, maybe they would have achieved this level of greatness.

Epigone is a snoozefest... gave me the same boring feelings as "Heritage" at the time.

jesus fuck you got this profile since 2006. that means 16 years and you barely listened to less than 2000 artists. talk about being a lazy pig in your own musical comfort zone.

Your "big" argument is that you're going to need to listen to 16,000 artists or more to have a good taste in music? hahahahahahah sure mate.... I would rater to listen to my excellent 2000 artist than fill out my library and ears with crap and walking through life completely deceived and believing that I have good taste in music... pathetic like your loved "Epigone "... music for fat nerds who still lives or his parent's basement.... go back to your WoW game, mate!

exactly. you can't know what good music is if you wallow in the same handful bands for 2 fucking decades. I'm actually athletic and not a gamer. try again colombiano dickwad :))

Great album. I didn't care about the previous stuff, this one must be a considerable step up as said below. Sophisticated and profound piece of progressive metal. Well done indeed!!!

New album is quite fantastic. While Veil of Imagination is their magnum Opus so far, Epigone is not as bombastic, but the songwriting is a a lot tighter. Wilderun has really cemented their own style with the last 2 years and aren't simply a folkier Opeth anymore.

I'm only on my first listen and midway through Passenger but it's the best thing I've heard in a long time.

Epigone is shaping up really nicely. A shame Century Media won't let them put the album up on bandcamp. Would pre-order in a heartbeat, but alas..

Veil of Imagination is one of the absolutely best albums of 2019. Wilderun finally became their own band with VOI mixing the Swedish and Polish prog rock influences with their more symphonic elements and death metal elements. This band has always been great, however I am very excited for future albums.

Just found them and the new album is awesome. The narration at the beginning and end serve as bookends.

Modern prog metal - in general - is often a hard pass for me, I feel it's fairly rare to find anything that I find enjoyable in that genre, but goddamn, when I find something good, it's often fairly mind-blowing, as is the case with Veil of Imagination. Hot diggity, what an amazing album. Best progmetal-find since Ne Obliviscaris.

Veil of Imagination is no doubt a difficult album to digest. Despite getting chills with the first spin of "The Unimaginable Zero Summer," I knew I was in for a long journey. Having listened to it only three times as of this writing, I am confident that it will reward repeated listens, as its dense and layered compositions rarely repeat themselves. It reminds me of what it was like to process Deliverance and the heavier songs on Blackwater Park. They may not be as hummable as the songs on Sleep at the Edge of the Earth (and nowhere near the catchiness of those on Olden Tales), but these guys are special, make no mistake.

They somehow topped Sleep... How they'll top Veil of Imagination I've no idea.

I honestly even think their first album is magnificent, but even Sleep is better than it, and and Veil slightly tops that. Crazy band.

Anticipating the new Opeth album last month, I spent a lot of time listening to their back catalog. When I finally laid ears on the new one, after the excitement of "New Opeth!!!!" wore off, I mainly found myself wanting to go back to their old stuff, while simultaneously wishing that any band releasing music in 2019 were capable of producing something that gave me the kind of feeling that Still Life or Blackwater Park do. Enter Veil of Imagination. Holy shit. Wilderun are undoubtedly standing on the shoulders of giants, but the heights they've reached with this album are mind-blowing. They deserve way more attention than they're getting. Not to mention a record label.

New album is killer. A strong candidate to be the album of the year from metal perspective.

Wow, haven't been listening to metal much this year, but just discovered 'Sleep' via the awesome artwork and was super impressed! Great musicianship and wonderfully flowing songs. Looking forward to further releases!!

A trolling or not, either way. Try Thrawnsunblat's album Metachthonia, Nechochwen's album Heart of Akamon or Obsequiae's Aria of Vernal Tombs. Fantastic non-euro folk metals.

Please do, Heart of Akamon has a more black/folk metal sound, if that's your up of tea. Hope you enjoy.
