Biography
Without A Fight are two different bands:
1. a pop-punk band from Virginia; and
2. a hardcore punk band from Nelson, New Zealand.
1. WITHOUT A FIGHT (formerly August), with their blend of catchy pop-punk melodies, high-energy tempos, and Four Year Strong-esk beats, has a little something for everyone to enjoy. Band members Eric Gress (lead vocals/guitar), TJ Hatcher (guitar/vocals), Jacob Roseberry (bass/vocals), and Josh Taylor (drums) each bring their own distinct style to the group, culminating in an assorted, yet agreeable musical mélange. Or, to put it simply, these guys would fit right in with the artists of Warped Tour, Bamboozle, and the like.
Capturing the essence of influences such as New Found Glory, Cartel, and Set Your Goals, WITHOUT A FIGHT finds themselves somewhat in-between genres. “We’re not gritty punk, but we’re not synthesized power-pop either, we play fun, hard-hitting rock with catchy hooks, drawn from an alternative influence.”
WITHOUT A FIGHT (with its particular collection of musicians) has been playing together for a little over two years. In that time, they’ve toured areas all along the east coast and into the mid west. They’ve also been featured on several independent east coast radio stations. More recently (April 2009) they spent two weeks with producer Marc McClusky recording their new album “If It’s War You Want,” which was released on Forsaken Records in January 2010.
To sum it up, WITHOUT A FIGHT knows how to have a good time, and if that’s what you’re looking for then you’re in the right place. Music matters to this group, but more importantly, music that represents their true intentions and reflects who they are as artists. They’re not looking to sellout to the next fad or give way to the pressures of the scene. This isn’t a band that you’ll ever find trying to make their music fit a style (or fit into skinny jeans). WITHOUT A FIGHT lets their music speak for itself. And these guys are confident that if you take a minute and give it a listen, you’ll like what you hear.
2. Without A Fight, formed in 2007 from the ashes of False Heroes Fall. Founding members Matt Duncan (Method in Mono) and Andy Riley (Not OK) worked their way through a succession of Guitarists, playing shows regularly including support slots for the UK Subs, Kitsch and Cobra Khan.
In October 2009, old friend Nathan Neumann (RSI, The War Within) joined the band on guitar and backing vocals and the band entered the studio to record their debut EP. Recorded during the summer of 2009 –2010, "Cabin Fever" features six tracks and was produced by the band and Neumann in his home studio.
Musically, Without A Fight are a blend of the bands influences. Hardcore, Punk and Metal are fused to create a heavy, yet melodic, hook based sound.
Future plans for the band include, more touring around New Zealand, shooting a music video, and writing new material for their next release.
