Biography
Noise / Ambient project named "Xiphiidae" (the name referring to the genetic "family" Xiphiidae, of which the sole member is the swordfish) is the principle musical endeavour of US native Jeffrey Astin, who also performs under the pseudonyms Isaac Willow, ]Abolicao and Digital Native. His highly abstract style - represented on over 30 releases, predominantly cassettes - defies all attempts at elementary categorisation, but indicates broad influences from modern and ethnic noise, drone, ambient, tape music, musique concrète, kosmische and lo-fi, amongst others. He has recorded split releases with the likes of Josh Burke, Cyquoia, Royallen, Thoughts on Air and Sisters Free From Bondage. He is also a member of Tricorn & Queue, Bermuda Link, Hairmaiden of the Totem Robe and several others. Apart music he run his own label called "Housecraft Recordings".
