Biography

Yambú was founded in 1972 and consists of bassist Ramon Rodriguez and pianist Milton Hamilton, who worked as music teachers at The 3rd Street Music School Settlement in Lower Manhattan.

Their musical styles ranged from salsa to funk to disco and reflected the "Nueyorquino melting pot" influences of the era. From 1975 to 1980 they released five albums under this moniker, 1975's Yambú, 1977's African Queen, 1979's Introducing Jesus Nolasco, and in 1980 Yambú's Brew.
