I love it too. Missed the release and only listened to it now after having read some negative comments somewhere else, but I think it's great.

The main appeal of Yellow Eyes is watching the unfolding of Will's increasingly strained relationship with the English language.

I've been able to glean two possible meanings: Rarefield can be used to refer to the region of the atmosphere where air begins to thin out, so the "Rarefield Ceiling" could be the upper limit of where air is breathable. Alternatively "Rarefield" can also be synonym for "Esoteric" or distant to normal people. This is doing a fuck ton of legwork for Will though, more likely he just thought the combination of words sounded cool.

According to Sam in their interview for Arcane Archivist: "Field is a region of space. Rare Field is an unusual region of space. Rare Field Ceiling is an upper limit of an unusual region of space." He goes on to describe that he and Will's mother had just been diagnosed with cancer before the album was being made and they were both experiencing an outlook on life that was obscure and unknown. "The album wasn't necessarily a metaphor for illness, but the specter of death was nearby and charged the air with intensity. I like the blankness of the title, and also it's limitless possibilities."

Love Rare Field Ceiling but I still find myself jumping back to Immersion Trench Reverie. Shrillness in the Heated Grass followed by Velvet on the Horns- I felt unworthy. Too good.

same! it happened to me now several times after long break from listening to YE.. RFC to me just sounds really warm at times, ITR still freezes me with its progressive rawness

Absolutely stoked on the new record. Their previous two are amongst my favourite modern black metal records and i was a little nervous they wouldnt be able to live up to them but I think it might be even better. Only 2 or 3 full listens in and there are already some really standout moments, and all the field recordings add an incredible atmosphere.

Ну вот на этом релизе они к краллисам невероятно близки по звучанию, что определенно плюс в их копилку.

I agree. I also have the highest expectations for the new Ustalost record, which should be released this year too.

song from the upcoming album revealed, sounds like "Immersion Trench Reverie" sound but more ambitious and complex - between this and the new Vanum it looks like Rekevics is absolutely on fire right now

saw them live earlier this week, very interesting band - reminds me of what'd happen if you took the weirder Norwegian bands like Fleurety and Ved Buens Ende/Virus then folded their innovations back into Xasthur/Wolves in the Throne Room style US ambient BM

Immersion Trench Reverie might be my favourite album of 2017. What a stunning album.

Immersion Trench Reverie is magnificent. Great balance between cerebral and atmospheric.
