Biography
Zarquon is a psychedelic progressive rock band from Austin, TX. Formed in the year 2000 by Mike Droske and Michael Nelsen, they were heavily influenced by the surf guitar sound of Dick Dale and the Ventures while writing progressive rock pieces reminiscent of early Genesis and Pink Floyd.
With the addition of the brothers Paul Kemp and Joshua Kemp on drums and bass, respectively, Zarquon's sound came into its own, featuring epic improvisational jams in between composed songs in their setlist. The addition of Holly Bennett on vocals, keyboards, and acoustic guitar created a fuller, richer sound, and allowed them to explore more complex vocal harmonies.
As of 2004, Zarquon has been on hiatus.
