Biography
Bastard Winos was formed in 2007 in Huntington Beach Calif. by Harlis Sweetawater,former frontman of the critically acclaimed Orange County soul band BARRELHOUSE.
With Harlis on guitar and co-lead vocals, Chile Thomas on Vocals, Jimmy Sena on drums and Chris Lou playing Bass, the band recorded their debut CD "Empty Bottles" in 2007, of which one music critic wrote: "For anyone wishing for the emergence of a band that matters and songs that resonate with the fury of rock ‘n’ roll’s early heroes, put in “Empy Bottles…" and crank it up loud."
The band followed up with the 4 song EP simpley titled "Bastard Winos 4" in 2010
The Band would rise to the occasion when asked to open two shows for ZZ TOP on their 2009 North American Tour, and has shared the stage with artists such as Los Lobos,The Blasters,Supersuckers, legendary singer Exene of the band X, as well as prominant indie punk bands such as the Dickies and the Jim Jones Revue. Their music has been featured on numerous compilations such as Roy Varga's Pinup Girls of 2009 Compilation, Gasoline Records "Sounds Of Gasioline" vol. 2, 3 & 4 and most recently, Garage Punk Hideout's "Noises From The Hideout Vol. 6". In 2009 Bastard Winos earned a nomination for "Best Live Band" for the OCMA's
Recently the band added veteran guitarist Ray Booth and the band is writing,arranging and recording a whole new batch of songs for their newest record, due for release in Spring 2012.
