Spencer Hawk, known artistically as gupi, is an American songwriter and producer based in Boston, MA.
Spencer has been producing music under the name gupi since 2016, but they first received critical attention from the release of their single thos moser with fellow LGBT electronic artist Fraxiom, which was released in February 2020 on 100 gecs' label Dog Show Records. gupi then released the album none the following week on the same label, which received positive reviews.
They are the child of famed skateboarder Tony Hawk, although Spencer tries to distance themself from this, as "(they don’t) feel accomplished otherwise. It’s just so disingenuous and takes away from the point to begin with, which is the music.” (source)
Spencer identifies as unindentified in both gender identity and sexuality.
