Vancouver sound comes from Brisbane, a sub tropical city in Queensland Australia. So the use or choice of the name (vancouver sound) is part escapism into another land or world and cunjures up a feeling for the listner of a cold and mysterious place in which the music emerges. vancouver sound is influenced by the down beat sound of Tosca, Portishead, Massive Attack, old school grooves like Al Green, Lonie Liston Smith, Marvin Gaye, Lou Rawls and rare grooves. Jazz by Ramsey Lewis, Miles Davis and down tempo hip hop, artists like People Under The Stairs, Rae & Christian and A Tribe Called Quest. More recently bands like Boards of Canada, Mum, and Pre Fuse 73 influences the music.
