Eternal Sunshine is seventh studio album by Ariana Grande. The title is based off of the Jim Carrey movie of the same name, in which the main character goes through a rough break up, and attempts to erase their memories afterwards.
After a nearly 4 year long hiatus from the music scene, it was reported on October 16, 2023 via Daily Mail that Grande began working on her seventh studio album with her longtime producer, Max Martin. On December 7, Ariana teased the album by posting studio pictures and videos on her Instagram account, which she did once again on December 17. Ten days later, Ariana sent mails in a red package to some fans, which included a r.e.m. beauty red lipstick, a new photo of her with red lips, and a note written in red pen that reads "see you next year ♡".
On January 7, 2024, Grande shared the official cover art for the lead single with the caption "yes, and 1.12" and a link in her instagram story to pre-order the song. In it, there was a section called "es" and "more es", which made fans speculate that it could be short for "Eternal Sunshine".
On January 11, 2024, Ariana posted a trailer for the lead single's music video, which featured critics being harsh about Grande's absence in the music industry. Right at the beginning, a red card would be shown that said "AG7" and included coordinates leading to Montauk, where the movie "Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind" was filmed, confirming the album title. Later that day, Ariana also liked an Instagram post made by a fan account which shared a short clip from said movie.
Besides its lead single, a pop and house song with ballroom culture inspiration, not much is known about the album yet.
