how do people hate this? i've listened to a few of his albums but none of them have been as pleasant as this one, so lush yet so simple at the same time. might be my future favorite Dylan album.

Right? Every time I see the tiny thumbnail in my phone playlist, I think, "When did Plex add a play button?"

Meu único problema com esse álbum é que ele é muito curto! Poderia ouvir o Dylan cantar nessa voz country aconchegante infinitamente. Todas as músicas são ótimas, com destaque pra Tell Me That It Isn't True, I Threw It All Away e Tonight I'll Be Staying Here With You. Country de altíssima qualidade de um cara que queria apenas settle down com a família e escrever músicas.

honestly one of my favorites from him, i think its simplicity and songs like "To Be Alone With You", just give it a pleasant aura. I love it front to back.

Fun, pleasant country album with several very nice songs. Those looking for a "major statement" will be disappointed, but those looking for an enjoyable Country record will be very pleased. "Girl from the North Country" remains one of his prettiest songs several years after its initial release, "I Threw It All Away" is a terrific tune, "Lay Lady Lay" is a deserving classic and "Tonight I'll Be Staying Here with You" is charming as hell.

I've been listening to this one quite a bit lately and I think it stands up as a great album. There's not a bad song on here; every track has a solid melody and arrangement with some top-shelf session men backing him on these genial, professional songs that are honestly a joy to listen to. There's no crazy wordplay or confounding epics or anything of the like, just a master songwriter fully embracing a style he tinkered with briefly on the previous record (which was more of a Folk/Folk Rock album despite some elements of Country being present, and which had some lyrics that were more "mystical" and obscure despite being largely rooted in some nonspecific past) to great results. "Nashville Skyline Rag" is a particularly lightweight instrumental that leaves almost no impression once it's gone, but that's the worst I can say about any of the songs here, really. And for those who are hung up on Dylan having to constantly push the envelope, consider how unusual a move it was for a Rock act

to go to Nashville to record a record of pure Country songs with session players there and to score a duet with the great Johnny Cash for the occasion. He'd recorded some of Blonde on Blonde in Nashville as well, but that was nothing like what he did here in bridging the worlds of Rock and Country music. But I only say that to throw some bread crumbs out for those who insist that Dylan and the other greats of the 60s were only great when they were innovating; the man attraction here is the wonderful songs, and no matter where you drop the needle, start the disc or which file you play first, you can't go wrong with anything on this one.

Hate to admit it, but this is the first time I've listened to the entire album. Instant favorite.

An entirely perfect, achingly beautiful, and all too fleeting 27 minutes. If only people could still make albums with this poetic simplicity.

I dreamt of this album before I ever heard it, which shows how you should always pay attention to your dreams.

his voice sounds different because he had to quit smoking after his motorcycle accident.
