I can not help but imagine what he would've made if alive. today. Especially with the Synclavier works that he made later in life. There's also like what would he say? Which also intrigues me greatly. Saddened to know I was 29 years late to "Get it while it's hot" in Zappa's words. RIP

"One of the things I used to like to do was pour the mercury on the floor and hit it with a hammer, so it squirted all over the place. I lived in mercury."

i still haven’t found a way into his music – i’ll try again in a year or two – but every time i see him go viral for something he said in an interview, it’s some of the most insightful stuff i’ve ever heard a popular musician say. does any superfan know the best way to get at that stuff? i would gladly read a transcript of every interview he ever gave if i were neatly collected in some books or a fansite

Your best bet is Afka.net in terms of transcripts. It has an exhaustive amount of written material about Zappa not limited to interviews but also concert reviews, columns about FZ, etc. There's also some great interviews on YouTube, my recent favorites are the Crossfire interview (the one that got relatively popular with the "Fascist Theocracy" segment), and the Turgid Flux interview about TV. Really any interview he did especially in the late 80s-early 90s is great brain food and it's a shame we lost him before he could give his thoughts on the world today. I'd also reccomend the Real Frank Zappa book if you want to read his feelings on the state of the US in the 80s. In my opinion Frank's interviews and the things he says in them are just as fascinating as his music

Frank frankly freaks, fractures, freezes, frizzles, fries, and frucks (whatever that means).

Thoughts carry themselves through the streets but don't be angry that he bought his penguin a refrigerator because the yellow snow is secretly eaten. and everything is so bright here.

I view both Zappa and Miles Davis as guys who completely mastered their instruments and just start doing whatever

That's true but you can still balance having epik randomness and having substance (although it's definitely hard to do). The Yellow Snow Suite was my first thought posting this shout

zappa has been such a helpful musician and has got me through so many things, he told me to not eat yellow snow and told me why it hurts when i pee and told me it must be a camel. truly inspiring music.

I remember as a little young baby Dutch boy listening to "Don't Eat The Yellow Snow" Before listening I always made the mistake to eat the yellow snow from where the husky's go. Now, as a big boy, I finally know that I shouldn't eat it (it tastes good tho) Thank you Frank Zappa

if you count posthumous albums, then yes, well over 100. during his lifetime he got to 62, which is still incredibly impressive

I adore him as a composer, yet, there is a strong feeling that you need to, at least, live in the US to fully appreciate him as a lyricist, Broadway seems like a black hole to me in terms of a context.
