I thought this was an industry that sold steaks. Looks like I'll have to look somewhere else.

Yeah, you are right, many contemporary listeners are metalheads, which gives some different sight into the genre than when you're coming from goth/ambient, or even proto-electronic/Vangelis scene. But as you mentioned dark ambient as vacation+sleep music for metalheads, what is it for you? I'm just curious.

...The rememberance of something that (never) was... I just love ambient / industrial music just like someone loves 'the beatles' or black metal etc. Apart from that, I do love some trip hop or so called 'dark jazz' that really helps while all contemporary dark ambient is in crisis and too many black metal heads surround this place. I like some Darkthrone, Beherit and Proclamation (on vacation) but their "mass cvlt" sucks. It was too hard to find good dark music among those infinite: 'black/ambient', 'black metal/drone', 'noise/depressive black', depressive black ambiAnt, blackgaze or other mass teen unclean bloody shite... Well, I have to suggest you the saviours of dark ambient, maybe you like : https://pactinfernal.bandcamp.com/album/infernality

Sorry for late answer. Although I'm quite sure all of us feels music different.. I think I feel similarly as you. The difference is, I rarely have perfect mood for dark ambient, but when I finally play it, it becomes like surreal journey into unseen corners of world. It draws a landscapes of void or abandoned places, where my mind can have the rest, in loneliness and only sound surrounding the soul. / And thanks for Infernality. I listened them few times, they seem to be growing on me slowly.

Hello, I have a quick point to make which is the older labels such CMI, Old Europa Cafe, and Cold Spring have mastered a lot of music niches like noise, power electronics, industrial music, dark ambient and other. Almost, all of these genres are quite esoteric to the listener and loving one niche such as the dark ambient doesn't necessarily mean you gonna love other related music genres say power electronics and quite frankly I'm speaking from my own experience i like CMI, and old europa cafe but i don't dig all their releases. and even for dark ambient, I've been listening to this genre of music rather religiously as you can see from my profile but that also doesn't mean that i should love all dark ambient stuff so i can be a "true" listener of the genre. It's about personal preference after all. Finally, allow me to wish you a very lovely sunday evening and all the best pals

You are right. So far I enjoyed all these niches, but I agree, loving dark ambient doesn't mean obvious love for other ones - and in my case, I always need something different in noise/power electronics genres to enjoy them, such like sad/depressive vibe in the 20.SV's track "Disfigured Children.Radioactive Generation". Anyway, thanks and wishing you also all the best, bro. :)
