First wave goth is a description of the first wave of goth music that grew out of post-punk
bands such as bauhaus, the cure, siouxsie and the banshee's, alien sex fiend, the southern death cult, theatre of hate, sex gang children are some of the most famous first wave goth bands.
The first wave sound had a more punky feeling to it than the second wave which took the sound into a more hard rock direction
