Jungle Music is a style of electronic dance music that grew from and its precursor in the UK around 1992 with heavy influences from , and . Running at around 160 to 170bpm, its dominant feature is a heavy bass and complex, chopped up and recycled breakbeats. The term is generally used interchangeably with , although this second term appeared later. However, it is also argued that jungle can be differentiated to modern drum and bass through the overall song structure: drum and bass has an integrated percussion and bass structure while jungle has a distinct bass line separated from the percussion. Also, many people feel that the general 2-step beat of drum and bass is different from its predecessor's more complex "chopped" breakbeats.
