Hardcore punk with metallic influences/undertones (NOT to be mistaken for traditional metalcore such as Integrity, Rorschach, Starkweather, Ringworm, Merauder or Converge which all were typically predominantly metal derived and list extreme metal bands as their main influences according to interviews and zines).
Metallic hardcore is often used as a (misleading) euphemism for metalcore that is associated with the hardcore scene to detach it from modern melodic metalcore or scenecore despite the bands being associated with the term "metallic hardcore" having more in common with thrash metal and groove metal like Slayer or Sepultura.
Metallic hardcore can be essentially an umbrella term that encompasses genres like d-beat, youth crew, "motorcore" or certain bands involved in the NYHC scene.
