It refers to music that emphasizes the use of various genitalic instruments as a central aspect of the sound of the music. Penis music is a very broad term used to describe anything from artists like Lady Gaga, Björk and Elton John to classic bands like Love, The Beatles and Pink Floyd to bands like Swans, Death Grips and Andrew Jackson Jihad.
In the mid '90s several sub-genres arose.
These include: Boner rock, Hard cock, syphilistic metal and gonorrhea-core.
