A distinctly Cuban form of reggaeton.

The word 'reparto' refers to the poorest neighborhoods in Cuba, where young people without many options for a future swarm in flip-flops and shorts. Therefore this label, 'repartera music', was born with the same logic as our 'poligonera', which designates the Spanish working-class kids who went out to listen to techno in the polygons of the nineties, instead of having fun in the expensive clubs in the center of the cities, well above their budget. The term 'reparto' is used especially in Cuba and Yucatan, according to what Vozpópuli has learned. We are talking about an 'underground' scene, which works without industrial structures. “The distribution is a genre with marginal and explicit content, which does not appear on the radio or on television, a few delivery men had already set up their own promotional teams: boys who spread the music on the street and it did not matter to them to charge or no”, explained in 2020 the Cuban journalist Jesús Jank Curbelo. “Later, when the rage of the wifi parks, this street promo hit the Internet. But it never died, because the Internet has always been very expensive”, he explains. One of the stars of this sound is Chocolate MC, a Cuban rapper and reggaeton artist who has just turned thirty, who has just released the first volume of the album La república repartera.
