Spaghetti Western is a nickname for a broad sub-genre of Western films that emerged in the mid-1960s in the wake of Sergio Leone's unique and much copied film-making style and international box-office success, so named by American critics because most were produced and directed by Italians. The composer and conductor Ennio Morricone became most famous for his work scoring Sergio Leone's Spaghetti Westerns, including A Fistful of Dollars (1964), For a Few Dollars More (1965), The Good, the Bad and the Ugly (1966), and Once Upon a Time in the West (1968). Other composers took influence from him in creating the soundtracks of the genre.
