Vedic Metal is a sub-genre of Death, Thrash and Black metal where the lyrical theme are based on Asian mythology, in particular the Hindu mythology. The name is derived after 'The Vedas' which are texts originating in ancient India, forming the basis for many Indian and Asian languages. The term was coined with the release of the Singaporean band Rudra's album titled Vedic Metal.
