Hey, I'm great, thanks. Yeah, I bought "Born In The USA" back in September and since then I am into his music a lot. I also bought the new album, which I love and The Essential Bruce Springsteen. Sounds good! So I assume it was a great night? :-P

I never thought about all that. I think I developed too much of an attachment to the music to look at the bigger picture. Normally Gaga criticisms come from anti-pop douchey hipsters, but the argument you made has really intrigued me. I need to look more into this whole thing before I"m so quick to defend her. Anyway, what's your favorite Madonna album? For me, it varies. Last week it was Ray of Light and this week it's Confessions on a Dancefloor. I've been listening Forbidden Love on repeat. I will always adore the 80s stuff best probably just for nostalgic purposes. I really love everything though. The only albums I haven't given fair listens to are American Life and Hard Candy, which I should probably get on. Sorry for invading your shoutbox. You just got me rethinking some things about Gaga. Also, I love meeting fellow Madonna fans.

Thanks. I can see where you are coming from. That makes a lot of sense. I do love Gaga's music mostly for her lyrics, but, when I really think about it, I think the reason I love her music so much is that I see so much of Madonna in her songs. I love Gaga's songs for the pro-gay, female empowerment, and sexual freedom themes, but Madonna was singing about all that before Gaga was barely a thought. I still really love Gaga's songs, but I understand where you and other Madonna fans are coming from. Madonna will always be queen to me anyway having grown up with her music. Have a good one.

You have great taste in music. Madonna, Kate, and Courntey Love are all very important to me. Their music helped me while I was growing up. I also grew up liking Frank Sinatra due to my grandfather. I liked your shout on Madonna's page. There's only one thing I don't get. Why do so many Madonna fans detest Gaga, but then like artists like Britney Spears and Rihanna? I just can't figure it out. Gaga is no where near Madonna's level. I would never argue that, but Britney and Rihanna can barely sing let alone be an icon like Madonna. Anyway, sorry for ranting. Great music and have a good one.

I said in my review of it on my website that the lead single heavy distorted synth line opener is more along the lines of their latter day stuff, pre-"Astronaut" of course. But yeh, I think he did a good job, but they've worked with very accomplished producers throughout their careers, but always with them working in tandem, not under direction. They've also self-produced a lot of stuff too. But yeh, I have the deluxe version with the DVD. Watching him talk about it was nauseating. Oh, I really like the atmosphere of "Ultra Blue" by the way, I just bought it Friday.

I remember buying that in '04 and how it took me a few years, getting into more electronic music, to really realize how cutting edge and strange the album was. Yeh, artists have their flaws too, lol, I've been annoyed with Duran Duran letting Mr. Mark Ronson, a.k.a. The Living Ego, to flout this record as the only decent thing they did post-"Rio" which REALLY is a false pretense imho.

I only own "Exodus," "Ultra Blue," and her first best of. To be honest, it echoed some of he material from her first two albums in its urban scope. I think she stated in interviews that she wanted to just relax from being so experimental which "Exodus" and "Ultra Blue" were in abundance. I've just ordereded "Distance," next up is "Heart Station," then I'll get "This Is the One" and the other two I need. And probably her second best of to round out the set. I'm a completist that way, lol.

Stumbled across your reviews on Amazon, you've got great tastes. I mostly agree with your take on "Pop Trash," though I love "Someone Else Not Me," and "Damita Jo" is arguably my favorite JJ album of the post-TVR period, lol. Check out my website, I may have some write-ups about stuff we both like that you'll enjoy.
