Pssssh. Music is so overrated and 2012 or something. Who listens to music anymore? Truth is, I couldn't remember my password for last.fm.

Sheesh, I haven't been here in over a year. Also, can't explain it but I feel like you look extremely young in your user pic. I'm probably just getting old.

:D He's one of my favourite writers, really, comedic or otherwise. He's just so awesome. I am so jealous you saw him live!

Idk if you've heard, but Born Ruffians, Said the Whale and Tokyo PC is playing a holiday show in toronto. Didn't wanna be a tease, but it'd be legendary. and read somewhere, they're serving gingerbread cookies and cider. so canadian!

Mmmm Mountain Goats live is a delicious, excellent thing. Also, Lincoln and John Henry are both great, when I'm in the mood for some TMBG songs I so often go for John Henry tracks, stuff like A Self Called Nowhere and End of the Tour just completely blows me away. And I mean, Lincoln starts and ends so exquisitely, with Ana NG and Kiss Me, Son of God... especially Ana NG, which I think has some of the most brilliant, affecting lyrics I've ever heard. Plus there are classics in between, like the gleefully eery Where Your Eyes Don't Go and heartbreaking They'll Need a Crane. They're such an original and creative band, I'm so grateful to have found them. I can't believe how many people criticize The Else for being too "normal". There isn't a song on there (well... aside from the catchy but sort of generic Take Out the Trash) that doesn't have TMBG written all over it. Yes, it's different, but it retains TMBG's INTELLIGENCE in songwriting. I'm Impressed and Climbing the Walls are classics.

Also, one of your top-played TMBG songs I have never heard before?? :O (No Answer)

Tallahassee is sooo good, and was my first Goats album! I've been obsessed with concept albums ever since I was 17 and started listening to Yoshimi Battles the Pink Robots, and The Sunset Tree and Tallahassee are so brilliant not just because every song is awesome, but because every song is different but all part of the same narrative. And yes, I mean, I heard them saying they were doing an album more akin to their early work, but I didn't anticipate it sounding like it came out in 1989 or so. I mean, some of my friends aren't really into their first couple albums beyond the singles (which I can sort of understand and entirely don't understand at the same time... but personally, stuff like The Else and John Henry got more plays from me. I think it says a lot about the kind of band TMBG are that their fanbase is so divided on what albums are best, but personally, honestly, among their 'adult' albums there is not one that I haven't been obsessed with at one point or other :)

Alright, I shall divide my responses numerically: 1) Tally Hall live sounds astonishingly excellent. Twice in one week? You might die from happiness overload! Which is how I hope today, one day. 2) I am listening to Join Us for the first time now, and enjoying it MUCHLY. Although... I will say it is WEIRD listening to a whole album of TMBG songs and not knowing all the lyrics already. But I was slightly terrified to listen to it because I was all "ahhh what if I don't like it and then my 17-year-old self is upset with me?" but that was silly and I was wrong to think it. 3) The Sunset Tree is my favourite album of all time. I mean, there are a lot of albums I love, and Mountain Goats are pretty consistently brilliant (We Shall all be Healed, Heretic Pride and Tallahassee would rank AMONG my favourite albums) but The Sunset Tree is the most cohesive and intense and diverse and brilliant thing I've ever heard. Emotionally exhausting, though.

We are both guilty of not having TMBG as our top artists for 3months and 6 months. High school Jade and Ana would be so disappoint.

I agree with... everything you just said. haha. I am excited to listen to it more, it's not MMMM, but maybe it's good that it's different even though I don't think I like it as much. Partially because it seems not just less silly, but also less eclectic musically? Which is part of their appeal. Ah well. + that was a nice cover! + HOLY SHIT YOU COVERED AUTOCLAVE ON AN ACCORDION??? That is quite possibly my favourite song. Mountain Goats = glorrriouuussss.

I have not!!! I listened it once while they were streaming it on their site, it seems different (not as silly, mostly) but good. So glad Never Meant to Know is there, I have a demo version that I've listened to a bunch 'cause it's wondderrfffull. Looking forward to picking it up when I get the chance.

It is definitely a small world because I didn't find your last.fm through any of the normal routes like common friends. I was just looking at Tom Milsom's last.fm page and saw your comment. So hi. (This is Emma/Emotionsleaking in case you didn't catch that)

Yeah, I have Illinoise, Michigan and Seven Swans. I tend to collect a bunch of albums and then not listen to any of them :/ But I don't really know what happened to Joe, I'm sorry. It's not really like my sister talks about what's happening with the band all that much and I never see Ross.

Listening to it now! I really do like him, I just haven't listened to him enough to call myself a fan, you know? I definitely will give his stuff more attention though.

Yeah they're really good! My sister is really good friends with him, they went to college together. They still keep in contact! The whole band actually stayed at my house for a night when they were doing a concert in D.C. I haven't seen him in a while though because I can never find a friend to stay with in NYC when my sister visits.

I really should listen to more Sufjan. I have Illinoise and some other stuff, but I don't *really* know his music. Also, I really like how our musical compatibility goes from 'UNKNOWN' to 'SUPER OMG YOU GUYS ARE 100% IDENTICAL'.

Back in 09, I used to actually use my Tumblr for blogging. Like, shows and pictures, whatnot. Then after I began lurking it, I just reblogged stupid not very funny memes and stuff. Then, I posted mainly things about The Like & The Young Veins. After that, I posted a lot of hipster photos/fashion inspiration stuff. Pretty stuff, I guess. Now I'm here. I ran into the entirety of fun. in the Fred Meyers across from the venue. I didn't say anything though.

Yeah, I've had a Tumblr since summer 09 and I've gone through so much stuff since then, just out of curiosity I went to the last few pages of my blog to see what I was up to back then. Pretty funny stuff. I've had to unfollow a ton of hipster photo blogs, haha. But yeah, the Gorbel kid-- he's a pretty talented guy. After the show he was going around asking everyone if they wanted their ballsacks signed.

Oh, hey! We do follow each other! Yeah, the Monkees fans on Tumblr seem to have this little group where everyone talks to each other, or that's what I've seen so far anyway, it's pretty neat. Steel Train were good, Jarrod Gorbel was at my show as well and he was pretty good too. A pretty funny kid.

Hard to say - Tally Hall definitely WAS popular here, but it's faded a lot since the band has dropped off the radar for the time being. What I do know, though, is that everyone I've introduced to the band has loved them. :) By the way, if you ever get a chance to go visit Marvin's Marvelous Mechanical Museum, DO IT. It's awesome.

Dude, fun. is awesome! :D :D :D I saw them in Cleveland on October 3rd, and I loved them immediately. And I need to get more into Steel Train (I'm not ashamed to admit that I think the lead guitarist/singer is absolutely adorable) - I've been so singularly focused on fun. the last couple of weeks that I haven't really been able to listen to anything else, hahaha. I'm in the process of downloading Steel Train's newest album, though, so hopefully this will set me on the path to awesomeness once again. :D!
