I finally got around to downloading that Rorcal album. Definitely scratching that black metal itch.

Re: Deafheaven. Yeah, whenever I try to listen to Sunbather it feels like they threw together the epic crescendos of post-rock, the fuzzy guitars of shoegaze and the intensity of black metal, etc. but somehow missed to capture the emotions behind these elements, that make them work for their respective genres. Same with George's vocals for example, on RTJ they still sound honestly anguished but on Sunbather they sound much more bland.

I don't know if I would agree with that necessarily, as I've listened to the entire album once, but it's certainly an impressive piece of work.

They have to be one of my absolute favorite heavy bands that's still making music.

I still dig Maelstrom a lot, but Eros is a far more polished record with better songwriting. Eros is a very diverse, as was Maelstrom, but I feel that they blended genres in a more interesting, cohesive way on Eros. "The Abyss Looks Into Me" is one of my favorites. "Upheaval" is so good! It's like Converge gone black metal. That riff after the intro with the short blast beat in it is so genius. I have been doing alright. Just working and doing music things, and trying to enjoy the summer, while it's here. How have you been? Yeah, that's true. I just got so sick of that website as a whole. We will! Teethed Glory And Injury is probably one of the best albums that came out this year. They experiment with black metal and other genres in a way that doesn't come off as contrived or easy, and I have an immense amount of respect for that.

Thoughts on Eros|Anteros? I think it's miles above their debut. Loving it right now.

I do agree with you about the new CoL. Some great moments wrapped in some dire stuff.

Damn dude, you got some sick ass archives! Got to get more into the post-fuck. My current favorite is Tides. Want to cop the track they have on their space. Hopefully they're still a band and release some stuff soon. That Giants/Tides split isn't enough. Anyways, cheers from the U.S. stench!!!

Heej dude, love the chartz (pelican, National, GIAA, RusCirc etc) and we're superbro's! My charts aren't up to snuff yet because I've only just started scrobbling etc. but, hopefully we can help each other out in finding some great music. If there's one thing I can vow for it's that my music taste is all over the place so don't hesitate with recommendations :D
