Gerry! You should check out the new Mark Lanegan album, 'Blues Funeral'. It's excellent. Just as good as 'Bubblegum', which you gave me years ago and I played to death.

Hello Gerry, here's an analysis over house last.fm groups, and your group's artist: Calvin Harris is included :-) 10 artists are currently characteristic, 3 new artists entered new this week, >750 bands are analyzed. What do you think of the results? read more: [url=http://www.last.fm/user/house-and-more/journal]http://www.last.fm/user/house-and-more/journal[/url] (P.S. I just left a shout in your group, since you have no forum)

Gerry, it's a side project of Nick Cave. Check it out (and this video is awesome): http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vKznZUtKntg&ob=av3e

I don't know if you noticed, but the so-called "musical compatibility" is utter bullshit. You play lots of stuff often play and the Scrobbling of lastfm hasn't recognized this. I've noticed that it catches up eventually. Vincent Gallo? I'm one of the few who bought his CD. Devendra, Vampire Weekend, etc. I like variety!

thanks for the add Gerry. although we share a low musical compatibility, still love that we have awesome bands in common :)

That's my standard greeting below. On a more personal note, I'm very curious (to say the least!) as to how you found me and what inspired you to make a friend request. Me, I love to have a motley crew of friends I could never have made up, so I'm glad you asked... but what about this utterly unfabulous old dude jumped out atcha?

Thanks for your Friend request! I'd like to invite you to join my friends-only group [group]Chez Musinum[/group], a hub for artists, group leaders, and passionate listeners. If you have an artistic presence here, it will be connected with the group (or one of two sister groups, depending on listenership) and your music will stream on one or more of our Artist Radios. As an added inducement, you can be Minister of anything you like in our entirely fanciful Chez Musinum Cabinet. Hope to see you there! (To see all 18 groups I lead, and to hear all the radios under one roof, visit [group]The Radio Room[/group].)

"It's an anagram of my own name!" Yeah, I love that song. The whole album is dumb fun.

No, I've been listening to them since the 1980s and I adore them! Especially "This Is the Day," my fave song. They've done other stuff (or he has), right? I'm on a Jeff Beck mode today!

You're listening to The The? That's cool, I love them (did I maybe give it to you?)

You're so hip. But have you heard Twin Shadow? That one is really just for cool people.

You will like How to Dress Well. It was rated highly in Pitchfork. But it's nice and gloomy, so I'm sure you'll enjoy it. If not, your taste has changed to bubblegum!

I'll check out How to Dress Well. Yeah, it's not my usual, but I LOVE Robyn! I have all three of the EPs she released this year - let me know if you don't have any of them, and I'll bring them in. I also saw her live at Terminal 5, which was a fun show. The crowd was made up exclusively of gays and eurotrash.

Yo! When you've got a chance, check out that Ian Brown album I gave you today. It's not usually the kind of thing I like, but the album is weirdly addictive. Upbeat electro-pop with swaggering laddish vocals.

Not sure if you'll be able to find it. The chords are just C and A minor, though...

Last played track: Blur - 'This Is a Low'. Oh man, what an awesome song that is. Takes me back to Sydney in the mid nineties...

WHen are you back? THrobbing Gristle is playing in Brooklyn in APril, first time ever in NYC. I don't have that Air album. Did you noticed I "loved" "Brenda's Iron Sledge"? Good song.

Nah, it's an older Air album - I'm getting into my old CDs here at my parents' place. How're things at Columbia?

Incidentally, since when did we have 'very high' compatibility? That's awesome.

Hey, I have nothing against Andrew Bird - I have one of his albums ('Armchair Apocrypha') and I think it's very good. Did you notice that there was a new album by him coming out later this month ('Noble Beast'?) As for David Byrne, I wanted to go but it was too expensive.

Hey Gez, I finally got the new TV on the Radio. They're selling it for 5 bucks at Amazon, so I figured I had no more excuses. It's pretty different from the others: not indie rock so much as soul or electro-pop, a lot like Beck's 'Midnite Vultures', if not quite as good. Got anything good lately?

Hey Gez! The conference was great. I had a blast, and met a lot of cool people. The dinners were great too (especially the Terrace). I can bring in American Music Club (they were an indie 'slowcore' group in the 80s and 90s). I love it, but you might find it a bit mopey. Oh, and I'll be listening to the show tonite! Sounds good...

Wow, that Iggy Pop album I bought today is AWFUL. Borderline unlistenable. You really have to be careful which ones you get in that guy's back-catalogue.

Hey, just checked out the archive of the radio show. I thought Air Bombay sounded great - the one microphone didn't seem to pose much of a problem. Rest of the show was fine, although I did probably go on a bit too long with the Cale stuff (to be fair, no-one else had turned up at that stage). Sorry I was in such a bad mood in the office today.

Hey Gez! So, here are the songs I thought I'd play for the Cale segment - let me know what you think. First up, my favourite Cale track, 'Fear is Man's Best Friend' (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hp4GFuQVY9E); then, his blood-curdling deconstruction of the Elvis song 'Heartbreak Hotel' (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_L8qXmRqjd0); his most recent single, 'Jumbo in tha Modern World' (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=asMCN0s5Dks); then finally his cover of 'Femme Fatale'.

Btw...played last night at Postcrypt. Check out pics on facebook. Don't think I'll make it to the radio show tonite, if that's ok, cos I have shitloads of work to do. But pencil me in for next week...I'm keen to do a Cale spot...

Fuck! I LOVE the Lanegan albums you gave me. LOVE them. I'll give you Gutter Twins tomorrow. I think you'll like that one too, although the Gutter Twins has a slightly more polished and commercial rock sound than the solo stuff.

That's great news about Sunday - I think it's a better timeslot. I'm not a big fan of 'Adelaide' either - in fact, that whole album (his first solo album, 'Vintage Violence') is a bit hit-and-miss. Incidentally, I've never noticed that you've listened to 'Move' by Moby so much! Classic, I love that track.

Haha, good luck with Cale. He lives somewhere in New York in the Village, so, if he's not overseas, he should be nearby...

You must indeed be senile, since you replied to my message ON YOUR OWN PAGE. It's a good thing I stalk your last.fm page or I might never have seen it. By the way, nice to see Cale topping your weekly charts and Hitchcock making an appearance....you're turning into me!
