"Music is a world within itself/With a language we all understand/With an equal opportunity for all to sing, dance and clap their hands" Stevie Wonders Sir Duke had me thinking earlier today of that Beethoven quote which I've never thought I'd understood.

Cool, the Alarm were touring with U2 and massive back in the 80's! One of those bands that maybe could have been bigger than they were is the cards had fallen differently. They've a couple of line up changes, and a break but have come out still producing great albums to this day. It's always good to discover something new! I'll let you know about some of the new artists I pick up from your library when I've had a good listen. :)

"I liberate minds with my music. That's more important than liberating a few people from apartheid or whatever." - Kanye West. Hello. I was inspired by your quotes on music (already knew the Beethoven one) to search for one myself. Thank you so much, Mr. West! ;-)

I think some Coldplay songs are but that's true of a lot of bands... their last album 'A Head Full of Dreams' is I feel mostly upbeat... but that's me, grumpy but happy! 😎

I've popped those albums back... I am good thanks, on here trying to keep sane and avoid work stresses! It has changed here, and though I like all the stats and bits and bobs I miss how its was, I feel less connected to other users now and the radio going was not so good, just to be able to type in Norwegian doom Jazz, bagpipes or swamp rock and listen to hours was a pure joy what ever tickled your fancy and nothing else comes close to what Last used to provide. But hey, I'm progressive I can move with the times and will always listen and try and spot new things in others library's. See you again, don't be a stranger. :)

Howdy Hottie. Not sure I could narrow that down. Spotify has a ton of X-MAS tunes. "Merry Christmas - 40 Classics" is a good one. Looks like you're doing alright there. (; ... Have a Merry Christmas & a Happy New Year 2016 to you and yours. Peace, love & rock on. John. (:

Hey Hotty. Listened to the first album by the Carolina Chocolate drops. Liked the two a cappella tracks best. The band is in the same vien as Cannon's Jug Stompers and the Memphis Jug Band. Good but needs more Jug and a little Kazoo. Thanks for the recommendation will listen to their second album today. Fall is arriving here a I LOVE Fall weather. Have a good week. Ray

Aah aah Live Aid. Remember it well (Haha, some of it.) So I took a refresher course for my brain. Here : See if your memory serves you well on this. I remembered a lot as I read the lineup again. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Live_Aid

I know what you mean. I sometimes like what they call "album filler" better than the hits, esp if they've been done to death. What I always have done and I'm still doing it on Last.fm & Spotify is when I break down a band/artist, I start from their beginning; their first singles, albums and go from there chronologically. That way you can see how the band/artist evolved through the years.

Your welcome. I agree. I wasn't really into Queen back in the day. You're talking about 40 yrs ago. I had so many musical irons in the fire back then. Still do. But now I like a few of their songs, not many. The popular ones were played to death in my opinion. Bored with 'em. Radio Gaga is another good one. Remembering them playing it at Live Aid in the 80s.

Give my library a listen for sure! Though I am not sure how much new stuff you'll end up finding, since you already have 7,000+ artists, and there's a fair amount of mainstream stuff mixed in with the more obscure and weird stuff.

Zappa (as well as The Residents, who currently occupy 2nd place) are two of my main inspirations, and listening to their stuff helps give me bursts of creativity that helps me when making my own tracks. I think during the summer there was a period where I was listening to nothing but Zappa (as is easy to do, given the size of his discography). Also I noticed you like Ladysmith Black Mambazo! I saw them perform years ago at Carnegie Hall when I used to live in New York, I think it was 2005 or 2006.
