It's growing on me a lot! Going tomorrow night, set list looks good, some surprises in there likes Digsy's Dinner and Champagne Supernova. Have you played these DACs yet, are they just for headphones or do they go with your speakers also? (Is that a Bose?)

Looks like it was "Ali Farka Touré - Penda Yoro", not sure what that is, didn't realise until afterwards that it had happened so didn't plan anything for it!

Very bizarre, you should have seen the poll options last night when it was created, before 2 additional items were added, it was essentially "1. Pet Shop Boys are shit 2. Pet Shop Boys are the greatest band ever, better even than The Beatles 3. Who are the Pet Shop Boys?" . How the hell are you supposed to pick one of those options!?

I've had a couple of listens to it now. Liking it, he's remembered how to sing. Weird hearing him singing the theme tune to Birds Of A Feather though!

I expect I probably will get it at some point. Pre ordered Noel's new album, out early March, I've got about 3 days to learn it before I go and see him.

Yes that's the Dexys album from Stew's, really good all the way through and a grower. Seen some good reviews for Dylan, and as usual some not so positive. The Basement Tapes stuff not grabbing me at all, vastly overrated period for me.

This Dexys album is bloody great. Can't believe I didn't know about it for the last 35 years!

Not blown away by Dire Straits "Making Movies" on first listen. Quite mediocre.

iTunes 12 was absolute gash. No way to view my library in anything like the way I want to! Album art box in bottom left gone also. Apple can nob off. Would rather let your dog shit on my living room rug than put up with that!

I'm hopeful that by the end of the night the worst thing will be that my plays since Thursday night will be out of touch with reality and my scrobbles. I'm going to have to just man up and accept that that's not a life threatening problem! Good luck with the dog, rather you than me!

Got your text, will do! Having great fun here (not) getting iTunes properly back up and running. One of my back ups seems to be missing hundreds of songs for some reason, and of course that's the one I used! Having to start again from a different back up that seems fully up to date. Fackin ball ache.

I could probably spend £150 and get it fixed, but for how long? Probably get a new one tomorrow and have fun restoring iTunes, should all work OK though, all files backed right up to last night.

If this comes back in stock at the same price it could be worth investigating - http://www.amazon.co.uk/The-Complete-Studio-Albums-Collection/dp/B005F8CL1S/ref=zg_bs_382534011_46

Dexys: Yes it's the same album, sounds good so far. That last album got some great reviews. I think you'll find those double songs are mono/stereo. Is it just in the folders for albums that were in the mono box set? You'll find the same for the Beatles folders.

Struggling here to couple the notion of pissing blood with anything positive! I told Stew I'd provide beers this time. Might have the house to myself for a couple of weeks late spring, if I dare stand my system up to scrutiny then I should host one.

Yeah sounds like it should be fun. I wonder if there's any way we can hook up the McCartney hi-res files through his system? Only way I've found is to put them on DVD and play through the blu ray player. Can pick you up about 7.40, seem to remember it taking about 20 mins from yours is that right?

Lossless stuff on its way through, I'll leave the laptop on so it will through by morning, otherwise my laptop won't be on until Wednesday night. Was surprised when the advice was to change the DAC rather than the amp! Struggling to get my head to accept that one!

I pestered for a dog when I was s kid but got nowhere! Never had one since. I would hope to be OK for next week, has been a suggestion I might have to go down South with work for a couple of days but I'm trying my best to get out of it. That's potentially Tuesday/Wednesday, so in any case I'd be back for Thursday.

Nice video, might have a seen it a couple of years ago. I doubt Beck does that since his fall out with Brian last year. That was Brian's old Smile era backing band wasn't it? The bald guy up front toured with The Beach Boys recently as one of the main backing singers. First day back today also (apart from NYE 1/2 day) tough time of year, long slog ahead. I'm guessing the kids are keenest in the house on having a dog?

Sounds good, presume there's no adverts on that? Good range of stuff available? Just starting to have thoughts about whether it's worth upgrading the Marantz amp. Would be nice to get that something approaching that soundstage that the Kandy gives, but preferably on a lower budget!!

There's also the danger that anything could get pulled from Spotify at any time, a few artists done that lately in protest at the money they pay for plays.

Ta, I'll have a look on Sky Arts, didn't know about that, though my Tivo wishlist should pick it up anyway. Only got Rumours and Tango In The Night from Fleetwood Mac, never got in to them really. I presume the début is from when Peter Green was with them? That's the era I'd be more interested in. Haven't even ripped the main album disc of Def Maybe yet, but the disc with the unreleased bonus stuff is great. Have read that it's even more compressed than before, but have also read an interview with the producer of it who said that's completely deliberate in order to get the right sound for Oasis.

Hard Day's Night blu ray, "Art of McCartney" double album, What's The Story 3 disc set, Derek series 2 DVD, McCartney "New" Collectors Edition, was hoping Kate Bush concert film would be out in time but looks unlikely. I assume that's mono MMT you're listening to?

I'm free pretty much any night, let's get it on! They're all opened but back in their wrappers, apart from Venus And Mars, couldn't get the damn thing back in! Lovely book that one. Just starting to read At The Speed Of Sound now, apparently they've done a great job with the audio on that one, looking forward to it. Downloaded the hi-res files and will get them on to a DVD and spend some time playing them through the system at the weekend.

I think that if you add the artwork via "Get Info" then it stores it within the music file itself, otherwise by any other method (including "Get album artwork") then it stores it in the artwork folder, along with a thumbnail version that goes on your iphone/ipod. If I use "get album artwork" for 1 song, then I copy that art and use "Get info" to apply it to the whole album, then I know it's embedded in each file.

can be used for that, or I was thinking about possibly enabling the Smart TV stuff on one of my TVs or blu ray player (not quite sure yet why I might want to do that but if I find a good benefit...), could then just feed an ethernet cable from the homeplug in to the back of the telly or blu ray.

Well, yes, you can't go through life without a CD drive, we're a few years off that stage yet! Have you ever used a "homeplug" to get internet through your plug sockets via your home electric wiring? Never knew that was possible until yesterday but seems it's been around years.

That is bizarre! You can't be having the first song of every album missing. Surely either re-import or abandon the project. I know which I'd do. Even if you abandon you'd want a lossless back up wouldn't you? That would mean importing them back in anyway! I don't see abandoning the project as an option!

The Freewheelin' and Bringing It All Back Home are the 2 so far that seem to have really come alive. Don't Think Twice It's Alright has a lovely full sound to it. Working my way towards Blonde On Blonde, which by all accounts is the blow-your-socks-off as far as mono is concerned.
